BOARD APPROVAL

West Africa Regional Electricity Market Program (WA-REMP)
The World Bank Board of Directors approved the US$1.6 billion multiphase West Africa Regional Electricity Market Program (WA-REMP) to strengthen regional power system integration, enhance energy security, and advance the transition to a more affordable, sustainable, and lower-carbon power sector in West Africa. ESMAP played a pivotal role in supporting the development of the regional power market and transmission infrastructure in WAPP since 2017 through grants, including contributions to the preparation of WA-REMP, and the Interconnection project.
